Sydney pacer Swayzee has climbed the 2024 Inter Dominion rankings following his stellar success in last weekend’s Victoria Cup.
Harness Racing New South Wales released the second round of rankings on Wednesday, which saw Swayzee promoted from six to three behind his younger half-brother Leap To Fame and Catch A Wave.
Swayzee’s stablemate Curly James also moved up the rankings significantly from 19 to 11 after finishing second in the Grand Circuit Victoria Cup last Saturday.
Also performing well at Melton’s feature meeting last weekend was Victorian trotter Ollivici, who was a major mover in the second round of Inter Dominion rankings for the Trotting Championship.
The Chris Lang-trained gelding was ranked 15 and rose to seven following his second-placing to Just Believe in the Group 1 Bill Collins Trotters Sprint.
Just Believe remains at the top of the trotting rankings, as the defending champion of the Inter Dominion, as is Leap To Fame amongst the pacers.
There have been two scratchings from the series with Loyalist removed from the Pacing Championship and King Of Love out of the Trotting Championship.
The third round of Inter Dominion rankings for the 2024 series will be released on October 30.
Nominees will be able to boost rankings with two ‘Golden Ticket’ features prior to the next round of rankings with the Battle Of Beersheba for the pacers and the Tony McGrath Cup for the trotters, both at Menangle on October 26.
The top 36 pacers and top 24 trotters will progress to the respective championships, with the first round of heats at Newcastle on November 29.
